August 28 - IKEA

We went to IKEA yesterday to buy some kitchen cabinets.  Tatiana went to the kids play area for the first time.  She didn't want to go, but then she was having lots of fun running around a fake tree when we picked her up.

August 27

We went to Ty's house yesterday so Scotland could do a few little things.  They have a kitten.  Watching Tatiana and the kitten play was the highlight of the day for Ty, Scotland and I.  We were in the stone living room and Tatiana was running around the couch.  Sometimes the kitten just rested and waited for Tatiana to come around again

Scotland and Tatiana drove out to Tyland to replace a sink.  She got sweaty in the car, so she needed a bath.  She played played played.  I told her to open the drain and that when the water was gone, then it would be belly time.  [8/27/2014 10:38:36 AM] Susan Hawthorne: Then I'd ask if the water drained.  In answer, she would splash the water.  Eventually it didn't splash no matter how hard she tried.  In her bath toys is a dishwashing soap bottle.  She grabbed the bottle and dumped out the water in front of her so that she could try to make a splash to prove that the water hadn't drained.  It was cute

Tatiana stopped an aerobics class with her cuteness.  Scotland has done some work for a lady with an exercise studio.  He dropped off something and Tatiana stood in the door of an aerobics class.  When they saw her, the class stopped so that they could coo over her.

Last weekend in August

Tatiana and I went to the Children's Aquarium Saturday.  It is in Fair Park and they are setting up for the State Fair.  Because of that, they have fences up all over the place and at one point I could see the Aquarium but there was a fence in the way.  So, we kept walking looking for an opening.  And walking and walking.
Security in a golf cart comes up and we are "trespassing".   He figures out I am tired and lost and takes us in his golf cart through the locked gate by the aquarium.
What does Tatiana remember best about that day?
She finally got to ride "in the front seat"
Scotland asked her later about the weekend.  She said that we went to the Aquarium and we "walked walked walked walked walked walked".  He asked about getting a ride.  She got chipper and said, "I got to ride in the front seat".
The aquarium itself was nice.  It is just perfect for her age.  There was a tank of stingrays and they were used to people feeding them so they begged at the edge.  I wanted to leave something special for next time so we didn't buy any food.

Sunday was the first day of Sunday School.  She was not well-behaved at all, it was embarrassing.  I was complaining to Scotland and he pointed out that she often has a problem the first day of anything.  The first ballet class, the first swim class.  So, hopefully, she will be back to her normal self next time.  At Sunday School because it was the first class, all the kids went into the church for a blessing.  Tatiana was the last kid in.  She looked adorable in the red silk dress that she picked out.  After church we were walking into the fellowship hall and I overheard some older people talking about how cute the kids were and that in particular she had noticed, and then she pointed to Tatiana.

August 20th

Yesterday was a pretty normal day.  She was quiet but not napping when I got home.  They had gone to a big nice park in Dallas.  At one point she was playing cat, and another little girl starting kicking sand on her.  At first Tatiana didn't worry about it.  Then she realized that the girl was doing it on purpose.  She walked up to Scotland and told him to tell the other girls mommy or daddy to stop doing that.  When Scotland found the mom, she'd had her nose in her cell phone.  The other mom fussed a bit, and then Scotland said the next time Tatiana had permission to hit the little girl. The mother kept her daughter in a different area of the park.

At home she played with Legos with her Daddy.   She played a little bit with me, but I don't Get Legos the way her Daddy does.  I'd gotten a Dot-to-Dot book from Amazon and she did about half of them while in my lap.  She ate all her dinner so she got ice cream and half a "Blob" for dessert.  The mints from Teri got melty this last time.  They still taste great, but each grouping of 5 melted into a blob.  The word Blob makes Tatiana giggle.  So instead of asking for mints or chocolate she asks for a Blob.

Yesterday morning she got out both cartons of eggs.  I'd used some from both of them.  She wanted them all to be in the same carton.  But, they wouldn't fit.  She didn't break any.  Then she put them back in the fridge

I had to put one of her toys away.  It was a baby today that made animal noises when you pushed the buttons.  She was standing on it, and it was making lots of noises.  I told her she could use her feet, but not stand on it.  She still stood on it, so I put it away on the furnace.

Lately during naptime she puts on one of her fancy dresses.  Only she puts them on backward so she can do the zippers.

August 19th

Yesterday Scotland and Tatiana tried to go to the Zoo.  But, they hadn't realized it was "Dollar Day".  They didn't even go in.  They had to let two trains go by, before a train was empty enough to let them get off to come home.  They went to the Cityplace station.  Tatiana told me that they went "Up and Down and Up and Down".  This was said with hand-motions and a tone of voice that said she loved it.  Then they rode the trolley.  She explained to me that they are also called streetcars because they go on the streets with the cars.  Scotland said she told me the exact same words he'd told her.  Because she was good, she got a bath when they got home.  School starts on Monday, so they can have a nice visit next week.
Last night I threw out an envelope.  She thought I was throwing out her card, and she got upset.  The three of us played many rounds of puppy bingo.  She did some coloring on some princess pages.  And on the chalkboard.  At one point she had a drawing of two people and they were smiling.  Then she added the extra line to turn it into a smiling open mouth and she said they were talking.  There were always two people in her pictures.  Mommy/Tatiana, Daddy/Tatiana, or Daddy/Mommy.  In the Daddy/Mommy drawing there were balloons for some reason.
