First day camp drop-off

Today was the first day of YMCA day camp.    Drop-off did not go well.  Packing last night, instead of putting her clothes for today in the backpack, she put them on the piano.   Where they still are.   She put her towel in the backpack.   I'd had the idea of her sleeping in her swimsuit.   Then I could load her in the car sleeping.  When we got there she could put on the clothes over her swimsuit.  Fortunately I somehow had a clean t-shirt of mine in the car, so she wore that.

Then the instructions said no aerosol sunscreen.   We also needed non-aerosol sunscreen to take on our trip since planes don't allow them.  It was super thick and did not go on easily.   And she was fussing about 'she didn't want to look white'.   I said, 'That is better than looking red."    The counselors there said that they ignore to no-aerosol sunscreen since it is so handy.   So, I went during lunch and bought some for her.  I think that we will have some Amazon shipped to us in Vegas.

Mother's Day weekend

I don't remember where we got these shoes.  They are Converse shoes that someone painted with pink sparkly paint.  They didn't have shoelaces.   When we went to Greenville to watch the dance recital, we stopped at a Walmart on the way home.  Tatiana had wanted some pink sparkly shoelaces.  But, then we saw these.  They are silicon strips that go across.  We think that they are adorable, so I took a photo.

Saturday we went to another dance studio's recital.   Tatiana had wanted to watch one.  This one actually charged money for tickets, but I had promised.  It was also worth the money to see one at the same location as hers.  She enjoyed it at first, but then was bored.   I think part of it was that we didn't know anyone performing.   Also, since all the dancers had their hair slicked back, they all looked alike.  It was almost as if it was the same performers.

After the recital we went to Walmart to buy the shoe laces.  We bought some Blue Bell too.  Then we came home and had a relaxing day.  She has been cleaning her room and closet.   She also went through her shoes are sorted them into too small and too big, and the rest she put on her shelves.  We played our latest game Cytosis.  She beat me again.

Sunday I woke up at my normal time convinced it was Monday.  I was very unhappy that I had to wake up.   I think I thought it was Monday was because Saturday was a weekend's worth of relaxation.  Neither Scotland nor Tatiana wanted to wake up, so I let them sleep.

Scotland went to the Plano house early so that he could paint the outside of the house while the sun was in a good place, and while it wasn't raining.  Tatiana and I did work and then took breaks and played games.   It was nice.  In the evening, I called Gram.   It was a nice call.  Tatiana talked like such a grown-up.  Tatiana was shocked that it was Mother's Day.   She'd had it in her mind that it was Monday and that I was staying home.  She'd wanted to make me breakfast.   She had an idea of making it Sunday night and then putting it in the microwave to keep it safe.  She was distressed when I told her that wouldn't work.  I told her that she could do that next weekend.

She has been practicing with the jump rope.  She showed me how she was doing and she did so many without stopping that I lost count.

Thursday

This is this morning, Friday, as I dropped them off at the Parker Road Station.  I just thought that her outfit looked so adorable.

Yesterday was an ordinary day at home.  They had planned on going to Richardson to the Oklahoma Land Rush re-enactment, but Scotland didn't feel like leaving home.  She did lots of cleaning on her room.   She had been overwhelmed with the amount of cleaning needed.  So, Scotland came up with a great idea.  He dumped a bunch of her stuff in boxes.  Then told her to put the stuff away a box at a time.  Then after X amount of boxes, she got a break/reward.  The change in her room was amazing.

Tuesday, she had dug out the cardboard box of games that I'd ordered awhile back.  When they arrived a few months back, she was in the doghouse and I'd stored the games away and forgot about them.  Fortunately, I'd put the cardboard box where the games go and Tatiana had found it.  On Tuesday, I told her to pick out the first game we'd play and I'd read the rules.  Wednesday I read the rules and set it up.  Then they got home too late.   So, we played Cytosis last night.  It was lots of fun.  At one point Tatiana said, "This is a very pretty game."

Monday - playdate

She had a great day yesterday.   Kristen came over and they had a TON of fun playing with the barbies and barbie houses.   Kristen had brought over some of her barbie stuff.   They were having such fun that us moms didn't notice that it was getting late.  Then Tatiana showed her goats to them.

Then it all fell apart when she couldn't find her mouth thing.  She was whining.   I was exhausted from a sinus infection and had collapsed in bed.   Scotland helped her look.  They didn't find it.

Saturday - Dance and Piano and Breakfast

This photo is the first breakfast she made me.  It was totally her idea.  Saturday morning I woke her up so that we could go to the old folks home dance performance.   There was whimpering because she'd stayed up late the night before.  But, then she was fine.  And adorable.

Then we went home and ate really quickly and had a short rest then went to her formal piano recital.  Once again, she was adorable.   Scotland thought that she'd never played the song better.

After that I was mentally pooped, and wanted to lay down and read.  She asked me if I was hungry.  I wasn't then.  She said to tell her when I was hungry.  When I did she said that she needed to know how hungry I was.   So, "If she were making eggs, how many eggs would I want.  But, it might not be eggs."   Then this is what she brought me.   It was wonderful.

This is how her bed was Sunday morning when I went in to get my phone.  I loved all the books scattered around.   The flash didn't work because the phone battery was very low.

Friday - 4H Duds to Dazzle competition

Friday night Tatiana went to the 4H District Duds-to-Dazzle competition.  The first photo is them waiting for it to start.   The second photo is what they made.   I thought it was adorable.  They got second.   I didn't see what the kids that got first made, but it must have been awesome.

Scarborough Faire - School Days

Tuesday was Scarborough Faire School Days.   We had stayed the night in Arlington to make the drive shorter.  We rushed in and submitted her portfolio because it had a deadline of 10am.   Then she did the interview.   Then it was time for fun.  This was foam sword fighting.   They were sooo cute.  I think I got about 100 photos.

At some point it started to rain.  It wasn't a bad rain.  Very light and it just cooled people off a bit.   They shared Tatiana's umbrellas while Kristen's mommy went to the car to get her rain jacket.

This was a competition that they both did.   Tatiana didn't make it far.  But, the skirt didn't help.

This had been her getting her second place award.  Until the Senior First Place, she had been by far the crowd favorite.  The High School girl did have an amazing outfit.

Tatiana had really wanted to play 'Giant Chess".   She was playing against the older boy with the black pants at the lower left of the photo.   Her daddy helped a bit.  She ended up winning.  At one point, they were both down to just a few pieces.  He had a little bit of an advantage.  Then Scotland reminded her that the pawns could become Queens if they made it to the other end.  One pawn was sacrificed to make the other a Queen.  Then it was just a matter of time.  They finished the game as they were kicking us out.  Us parents had helped to put the pieces into the nearby game store.

Mommy Daughter Craft Day

We went to a Mommy-Daughter Craft evening.   Joyce and Silvia hosted it.  Joyce was the one that taught her drawing.  Silvia has older kids and we know her from 4H.

We won the door prize of the homemade cards.   She spread them out on the ironing board in the living room.

This is the three kids at the first Six Flags ride, Justice League.  There are TV's explaining the setup for the ride.  Brody is in the red hat and Toby in the visor.

I let Tatiana sign for a credit card purchase.   I just had to take a photo.

We both had a ton of fun at the playdate at Kristen's house yesterday.    I didn't want to make us leave.   But, she fell asleep about 5 minutes into mommies part of bedtime.

Six Flags Eve and Piano Recital

A few days ago I got an email from Six Flags saying that this weekend was "Bring A Friend Free" weekend.   Since it isn't the summer, it might not be too packed.   So, I invited Toby and Brody to go to Six Flags Saturday (which is today).   Liz and James said Yes.   Yesterday morning was the last day of co-op and her piano recital.  She did NOT want to get out of bed.   She said she felt sick.  Scotland thought that it was that she just didn't want to get out of bed.   I worried that she was really sick.  The class stuff on the last day is unimportant.  And I'd taken a half day off of work to watch her performance.  So, she stayed home until it was time to go to the gym for the last run through for piano.   She did good.  Then we went home.  I had said to Scotland when Tatiana was there that I thought she was too sick for Six Flags tomorrow.  Scotland said he thought she was fine and we decided to wait to decide until the afternoon.   We had a nice quiet day together.  She worked hard to convince me that she wasn't sick.   In the evening we watched Kung Foo Panda shows.  She brushed her hair and I combed my hair.  She sings and dances in her seat during her theme song.   Pretty darn cute.   She was so sweet and happy that I decided she was fine.  Even Tatiana isn't sweet and happy when she is sick.

The dancing in the seat reminds me.  Apparently there is a "Gram Dance" and Tatiana can do it.

Left house

We have left the house.   Scotland is eating some dark chocolate orange candy I bought at trader Joe's.

Tatiana is eating milk chocolate bar from TJs.   Reading a Horrible History book.   That is what inspired the photo.

Packing for San Antonio Trip

These Stuffies suddenly appeared in the bag to go to the car.   I had to take a photo.

This is the backseat with Tatiana's blankets and pillows (and stuffies that I thought would prefer to be with her)

I can't complain since this is a photo my mommies pillows and blankets,

The Weekend

This weekend I helped Tatiana make her renaissance dress.   She asked to have Christmas music on while we did it.   During a break she was in the mancave singing Christmas songs to herself.  She is so cute she sometimes makes me tingly.

She played with Tatiana for a long time on Sunday afternoon.  I was just saying to Scotland, 'We need to get Tatiana" when I heard the pitter-patter of her booted feet on the porch.

This morning I was sitting up in bed trying to talk myself into getting started.  Tatiana came out of her room and climbed into the MommyDaddy bed at my feet.   This is very unusual.   I stroked her back.   I told her that she could get up if she wanted, but no TV or computer.

Doll furniture

Those first two are a place for her 'pink stuffies'.   She did the decorating.  At bedtime lately, I've been letting her continue to listen to the audiobook when I go to bed.  She was demonstrating that she left a designated place for my phone.   Scotland gets the phone when he shuts her door later.

The last is a playpen she made for that dolly.   That had been mine, and it has always made a sick sounding cry when it turns over.   She was being a good mommy and holding and jiggling the dolly.  The stroller on the right is loaded with all the essentials of baby care.

She truly gets cuter every day.

Bedtime dollies

When Tatiana was younger, she didn't show too much interest in her dollies.   A little, but mainly when girls came over to play.   Lately she has really enjoying her dolls.   When she can't sleep she gets up and plays with her dolls.  Lately she has really  been enjoying organizing her doll clothes.   I tried to get a photo yesterday but it didn't work.

Yesterday was an AHG meeting.   None of the normal leaders were there so I had to wing it.  The badge was Daughters of the King.   Part of the discussion was on royalty and how they act.  Since there was only 4 girls we had lots of time to kill.   The girls took these interlocking foam squares that are normally in a square shape and made them into a Princess Walk.

escape room

When I got home yesterday, Brody and Toby were over.   Brody and Tatiana were preparing an Escape Room for us adults.  It was adorable.  Toby was reading one of Tatiana's books in the hallway.   Earlier in the day they wanted to watch TV.   Scotland told them only if it rained.  Later it drizzled, and they were happy after hoping for rain.  He declared that a drizzle and not rain.

Cleaning room

Yesterday Tatiana cleaned her room, but didn't finish.  After our part of bedtime, I told her that she could listen to the book.  Later she was listening to the book and cleaning her room.   At one point Scotland went in to tell her that lights had to go off in 10 minutes.   But, then he saw her carefully putting books from the nightstand into the bookshelf.  He still gave her a time limit but it was much longer.
We are listening the John Grisham YA series Theo Boone.   She continues to listen when I go to bed, then in the morning I listen up to where she left off during the day.
Scotland and Tatiana are shared reading the Anne of Green Gables book.   Tatiana wanted her and I to continue to read the same book since she didn't want to stop.  Because otherwise she'd have to 'wait an entire 24 hours.'

Sunday

Sunday we spent at home.   Tatiana was cleaning.   This barbie had just gotten a shower.  Tatiana is putting a little towel on Barbie's hair.  Tatiana is walking so that is why everything is blurred.

Saturday - Kayla Birthday party

Tatiana attended the birthday party of Kayla and Jenna.   Kayla is 8 and Jenna is 6.   Tatiana met Kayla at soccer a few years ago.  Tatiana wasn't that interested in playing for some reason.  It was at a Gynastics place, that is why they are wearing tumbling clothes.

Thursday Lunch

We got to see Godfather Ty at lunch on Thursday.   She was leaning against his arm so cute so I brought out the camera.   She then proceeded to duck away from the camera.   Then I got mad at her.  So, they posed for this photo.  She'd had a normal face, but the camera caught her mouth in a funny position.   Earlier she had called Ty, "Daddy".   Ty was pleased.   That gave me a chance to tell them my "Other Child" story.
